1953 Chevrolet Corvette C1

Chevrolet Corvette C1 is a sports car produced from 1953 through the 1962nd This is the first generation of Chevrolet Corvettes built and marketed by Chevrolet.

Design

Although the style of a car can be important for certain how the car runs, automobile manufacturers did not start paying attention to car designs until the 1920s. It was not until 1927, when General Motors hired designer Harley Earl, that automotive styling and design became important to American automakers. What Henry Ford did for automobile principles, Harley Earl did for car design. Most GM flamboyant "dream car" designs of the 1950s are directly attributable to Earl, leading one journalist to comment that the designs were "the American psyche made visible." Harley Earl loved sports cars, and GIS returning after serving overseas World War II house MG, Jaguar, Alfa Romeo, etc.. Earl convinced GM that they needed to build a two-seat sports car. The result was the 1953 Corvette, unveiled to the public at this year's show Motorama car.

The original Corvette emblem incorporated an American flag design, which was abandoned due to a combination of the flag of a product is obsolete.

Taking its name from the corvette, a frigate small, maneuverable fighting (credit for the nomination goes to Myron Scott), the first Corvette virtually handmade in Flint, Michigan, Chevrolet Customer Delivery Center, became a building University Kettering University. The outer body is made of a revolutionary new composite material called fiberglass, selected in part because of steel quotas left by the war. In this new body components of standard radical Chevrolet, as the "Blue Flame" inline six-cylinder truck engine, two-speed Powerglide automatic transmission, drum brakes and the line of "auto Chevrolet. Although engine power be increased somewhat, thanks to a triple carburetor exclusive consumption of the Corvette, the car's performance was decidedly mediocre.

GM is seriously considering shelving the project, leaving the Corvette to be a little more than a footnote in automotive history, and would have done if not for two important events. The first was the introduction in 1955 the first Chevrolet V8 engine (a 265 in ³ {4.3} L) since 1919 and the second was the influence of a Soviet immigrant in GM's engineering department, Zora Arkus-Duntov . Arkus-Duntov simply took the new V8 and backed by a three-speed manual transmission. This modification, probably the greatest in automotive history, helped turn the Corvette from a two-seat curiosity into a real artist. He also earned Arkus-Duntov the rather inaccurate nickname "Father of the Corvette."

The first generation is generally regarded as a rigid axle, based on the fact that independent rear suspension (IRS) was not available before 1963.

Fuel Injection

The first generation began in 1953 and completed in 1962, and a significant addition to the optional fuel injection in 1957. This new system first saw regular use of a gasoline engine two years before the Mercedes-Benz 300SL Roadster "Gullwing". Although the Corvette GM-Rochester injection used a constant flow style fuel system, contrary to the diesel style nozzle measuring system is the Mercedes' six cylinders, the system nevertheless produced about 290HP. The number was reduced to an advertising agency for the Chevrolet 283HP/283 ³ (4.6 l) hp Fri ³ slogan, so it is' one of the first series engines in history to reach 1 hp / ³. In 1962, GM Small Block 327 has been extended ³ (5.4 L) and increased to 360 hp (268 kW). Other early options included Power Windows (1956), Hydraulic Power Roof (1956), four-speed manual transmission (mid 1957), and heavy brake and suspension options (1957).

Compared with British sports cars and Italian of the day was low-power Corvette, has required a great effort and the way to end, and even missed a pass-through "good" manual. Until now, the Chevrolet division of GM brand entry level, known for excellent car, but without frills. Nowhere is that more evident than in the Corvette. A compressor Paxton became available in 1954 as a dealer-installed option which greatly improves the performance of the Corvette in a straight line, but sales continued to decline.

2012 Mitsubishi i-MiEV Review

The Mitsubishi i (MiEV) 2012 is powered by innovative technology Mitsubishi Electric (MiEV) and also comes with the system for driving a rear-wheel drive vehicle that includes a 49 kW AC synchronous electric motor and 88 330V lithium battery cells that can 16kWh store above. In addition, this electric vehicle also comes with a reduction gear drive set as well. Electric motor vehicle is capable of producing a maximum torque of 145 lb-ft to the acceleration of the status quo and reach a top speed of 80 kilometers per hour.

Mitsubishi i-MiEV in 2012 appears to be an exciting new option that is eager to urbanities environmental awareness as it is possible that this car may be the first zero-emission vehicle, which went on sale. This seems to be a good way to kick off the Mitsubishi U.S. sales in difficulty and a picture.

The Mitsubishi i is certainly the most affordable pure electric car to be launched in the market. In fact, be offered at a cost of only $ 20, 490 for the standard ES and $ 22,490 for improvement.

Mitsubishi expects the initial availability of this electric car in California, Oregon, Washington and Hawaii, in November 2011, the U.S. market in March 2012 and available nationally in December 2012.

The new generation of Mitsubishi's road to the North American market further differentiate itself from its European and Japanese versions-spec, with a revamped, more the body to provide comfort inside for four adults, with bumper Northern New American-spec and return to greater protection in a collision. Other important safety features for the North American car spec includes air bags that protect passengers and deployment force control, Active Stability Control (ASC) and a pressure monitoring system (TPMS) - all included in as standard equipment.

Easier on the Environment

Thanks to its all-electric propulsion system is extremely efficient, Mitsubishi i does not produce CO2 on the road, so it is a zero emission vehicle. Moreover, if one takes into account the CO2 emissions of power plants that generate electricity that powers the Mitsubishi i, this revolutionary production of Mitsubishi vehicles produces only about 30% of CO2 gasoline engine of 660 cc that powers of the non-electric-car of its domestic market. And the reduction of CO2 emissions becomes even more significant given that the gasoline engine of 660 cc is in the Japanese market is only one third of the movement of vehicles, four-cylinder gasoline engine at normal power Northern U.S..

Additional energy can be twisted to "i" model with the electric drivetrain Eco (economy) and modes of brake line to supplement the standard vehicle's Drive. Eco mode limits excessive consumption to the engine during braking mode increases the resistance of the braking (especially when running downhill) to feed more energy back into the bank of car batteries lithium-ion batteries.

Low Cost "Fuel" Source

Operating cost per mile of electric powered Mitsubishi i is significantly less expensive than a similar gasoline vehicle. In Japan, operating costs only 1 / 3, version 660cc gasoline, car expenses and operations could decrease even more strongly than her siblings internal combustion taking advantage of reduced power rates for recharge at night or during off-peak hours.

Intelligent Design = spacious accommodations, exceptional security

Thank you for the excellent packaging and technology related to its size, this car offers a unique style with a high level of security, ample space for four adults and handy compartments.

How a small car, possessing such a large volume inside? Mitsubishi engineers have cleverly put high-capacity lithium-ion batteries under the floor and the electric motor, an inverter and battery charger is located behind and below the rear passenger area. This configuration also has the advantage of lowering the center of gravity of the car. With the wheels located at the corner farthest from the vehicle, which gives Mitsubishi unusual stability with surprisingly agile handling.

Advanced Electric Powertrain

The power system consists of a permanent magnet synchronous electric motor and a high energy density lithium-ion battery, which consists of 88 cells (22 modules, 4 cells per module) for a maximum capacity of the Battery 16 kWh. The battery modules can be installed vertically or across the packaging flexibility allows them to be stored under the cabin floor. The 88 cells reside in a very robust stainless steel housing for maximum protection.

Mitsubishi I also have a battery system revolutionary three-way that allows the vehicle can be recharged using the built-in charger for home through sources, 110V (15A) or 220V (15A) or a system Quick Charge that uses a three phase supply 220V. The charging time of a completely full battery very low, about 8 hours at 220 V and 16 hours at 110V. The three-phase 220V fast charger can take a low battery on the height of a load of 80% in less than 30 minutes remarkably fast. Fasting three phase charger uses a point of sale is available on the driver side of the vehicle while on-board charger for the release of the home is located on the passenger side of the Mitsubishi i.
